Dr Lam is a Gastroenterologist with subspecialty interest is management of complex liver disease – she is passionate about optimising management of patients with viral hepatitis, alcoholic and non-alcoholic liver disease (including fatty liver).
She consults in English and can speak Vietnamese.
Dr Thao Lam graduated from Sydney University with honours, and completed her advanced Gastroenterology training at Concord, St Vincent’s and Nepean Hospitals.
Dr Lam works as a Senior Staff Specialist at Westmead Hospital in both Gastroenterology and Hepatology as well as Drug Health. She is a Visiting Gastroenterologist at the Sydney Adventist Hospital.
Dr Lam is trained in the use of non-invasive tests for liver fibrosis such as the Fibroscan – The Sydney Gastroenterology and Liver Group is the first to provide this service at the Sydney Adventist Hospital.
Apart from liver diseases, her other clinical interests include gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, bowel cancer screening and prevention and management of functional bowel disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome.
Dr Lam is accredited in gastroscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy with the Gastroenterology Society of Australia.
